Teleradiology |
Teleradiology is the application of diagnostic medical imaging techniques to diagnose and treat diseases based on the structure of the patient's internal organs. There are two kinds of radiologists who perform this kind of work; internal radiologists and external radiologists. Internal radiologists use diagnostic medical imaging techniques to look for diseases of the internal organs of the body such as the lungs, heart, eyes, bones, and lymphatic system. External radiologists, on the other hand, use diagnostic techniques to examine patients outside the body. Diagnostic medical imaging procedures used in this field include computed tomography (CT) scans, magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) scans, ultrasound scans, and x-ray computed radiography (XRF). Some other diagnostic imaging procedures used in teleradiology include mammography, magnetic resonance imaging, intravenous pyelogram (IVP), computed tomography (CT) scanner, mammography, and magnetic resonance imaging. For instance, in November 2021, a
teleradiology services provider in the U.S., Premier Radiology Services, partnered with Blackford Analysis to develop an AI-based medical imaging platform which is planned to be demonstrated at the RSNA (Radiological Society of North America).
Since a large part of the job of these radiologists involves patient care, many hospitals have established specialized departments dedicated to this field. These hospitals offer a complete range of diagnostic medical imaging centers and services to patients with various diseases. A number of centers are providing excellent quality patient care through state-of-the-art diagnostic imaging centers and teleradiology services. These hospitals provide excellent treatment to cancer patients, HIV/AIDS infected individuals, patients with abnormalities in the lung or spleen, tumors, bone loss, lupus, kidney disorders, and many more. In addition, these hospitals offer rehabilitation services to physically challenged individuals.
The imaging centers of teleradiology services are fully equipped with latest medical equipment and instruments. They also have well-trained staff to cater to the needs of patients with various medical conditions. In addition, these hospitals are well connected to all other subspecialty centers. As a result, patients can avail the services of various qualified and experienced radiologists from any of the various medical centers.
