Revolutionizing Healthcare: Unleashing the Potential of Stem Cell Therapy

Image
Stem Cell Therapy In recent years, the field of healthcare has been witnessing a revolutionary approach with the advent of stem cell therapy. Stem cell therapy holds immense promise in treating a wide range of medical conditions and has the potential to revolutionize the way we approach healthcare. This cutting-edge therapy utilizes the remarkable abilities of stem cells to repair and regenerate damaged tissues, offering new hope for patients suffering from debilitating diseases and injuries. Stem cells are undifferentiated cells that have the unique ability to develop into specialized cell types in the body. They can be derived from various sources, including embryos, umbilical cord blood, and adult tissues such as bone marrow and adipose tissue. This versatility of stem cells makes them a valuable tool in regenerative medicine. One of the most promising applications of Stem Cell Therapy is in the treatment of degenerative diseases such as Parkinson's disease, Alzheimer...

The Outbreak of COVID-19 Has Increased the Use/Demand of Biological Safety Cabinets

Biological Safety Cabinets

                                                       Biological Safety Cabinets

Biological safety cabinets, also known as microbiological safety cabinet or biosafety cabinets, are one type of bio-containment equipment used in biological laboratories to provide personnel, environmental, and product protection. These cabinets are designed for laboratory operators to safely work with contaminated or biohazard materials. Biological safety cabinets are divided into three classes, such as Class I, Class I and Class III. Class I provides protection for the user and surrounding environment. Class II provides protection for the user, environment, and the sample, and is subdivided into four types, such as A1, A2, B1 and B2.

Class III is designed to work with highly infectious agents and provides the highest level of protection for the user, environment, and sample. Biological safety cabinets provide different levels of protection to obtain optimum control over product quality by reducing potential risk of exposure to biohazards materials. Thus, with the rapid growth in the number of biologics and increased risk of pandemics and communicable diseases, the demand for biological safety cabinets is also increasing. For example, according to the World Health Organization (WHO), In the United States, as of 8 November 2021, there have been 46,146,676 confirmed cases of COVID-19, including 747,957 deaths.

Laboratory biosafety guidelines issued by both WHO and CDC provide guidance on the safe handling of COVID-19 samples within clinical and research laboratories. The CDC and WHO recommend that Class II Cabinets (BSCs) be utilized any time a laboratory has the potential to generate aerosols or droplets as result of vortexing, pipetting, centrifugation, or other laboratory techniques. Laboratories carrying out COVID-19 testing must have the appropriate equipment and facility to protect lab personnel. Thus, CDC and WHO recommends handling COVID-19 samples in a properly maintained and certified Class II Biological Safety Cabinets (BSCs).

Biosafety cabinets can be classified on the basis of construction, velocity, air flow pattern, and exhaust system and are equipped with high-efficiency particulate arrest filters, which help to maintain the sterility of the environment from biohazard materials.
