While Zopiclone is a hypnotic agent with a chemical structure unrelated to benzodiazepines, barbiturates, or other drugs with known hypnotic properties, it interacts with the gamma-aminobutyric acid-benzodiazepine (GABABZ) receptor complex.


Some of the pharmacological features of benzodiazepines, such as sedative, anxiolytic, muscle relaxant, and anticonvulsant actions in animal models, are thought to be due to subunit regulation of the GABABZ receptor chloride channel macromolecular complex. Zopiclone interacts to the alpha subunit of the GABA A omega-1 receptor in the brain.


Zopiclone does not have to be taken at night. Consume the pill whole rather than crushing or chewing it. The drugs can be taken either with or without food. It starts working very immediately after you take it. Medication might make you fatigued at times, and the sleepiness can last for a long time.This is why you can take the medication right before bedtime or if you've already gone to bed but can't sleep.
